We are a small, specialty shop based in Whitefish, MT and we are hiring for multiple positions for the summer of 2020. Our shop has retail bikes, equipment, accessories and clothing as well as rental opportunities and a full service shop. In addition, we sport a small espresso bar proudly serving some of the best coffee in town. We are a tight knit team with only 6 to 9 members depending on the time of the year. While each member of our team has their preference of bike and ski, we all love the outdoors and prioritize our time outside the shop so that we can better share our knowledge and experiences during operating hours.

Service Technician

Duration:   

Seasonal – Summer (May-September) or year round depending on interest.

30-40 hours/week

10am-6pm

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Bicycle Service Technician to perform repairs, tunes and services, and build new bikes at our specialty shop in Whitefish, MT. As a service technician, attention to detail is of upmost importance in this shop as we deal with high end products with tight tolerances and cater to customers with high expectations. While completing repairs is the basis of this position, you will also be responsible for the following tasks:

 

  • Complete Work Orders: The service manager checks in bikes for service as well as the parts needed to complete work orders and assigns each technician their tasks for the workday.
  • Rental Bikes: Rental bike service includes performing regular maintenance on our fleet of high-end road and mountain bikes as well as basic fitting of rental bikes for customers.
  • New Bikes: You must be able to build up new bikes either from a bare frame or a partially pre-assembled bike out of a box. Attention to detail is paramount on new bike builds and they require an expert understanding of component compatibility and torque specs.
  • Shop Space: Maintain a professional work space and create welcoming but clean atmosphere for customer interaction
  • Retail: You are expected to learn and know the technical product we sell. Study the brands and understand why we sell what we sell. You will be responsible to help customers find small parts (tires, chains, brake pads, etc.)

Retail Sales Associate

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced sales associate to join our small team at our specialty shop in Whitefish, MT. As a sales associate you are responsible for setting the tone of our sales floor by continuing to foster relationships with our long time customers as well as making first time visitors’ experiences memorable. While customer service is paramount, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Retail Sales- Assist customers in finding apparel, accessories, parts and share knowledge and expertise when making new bike selections. Engage the customer and always greet them and treat them with respect when they walk into the shop.
  • Product Management – Help the sales manager merchandise product and facilitate restocking of product throughout the shop as well as help make decisions about what products are working and which new products should be added to the shop collection.
  • Point of Sale – Assist the Host in ringing up sales, running point of sale operations including special orders and work order completion, rental bike paperwork and reservations.
  • Barista - Occasionally make coffees and engage customers when the Host is unavailable.

Pay:

Job Description:

The culture of GNCS is paramount and as the Host you are responsible for setting the tone for our customers when they enter the building. This position requires little to no experience but requires a friendly personality that is passionate about the outdoors and willing to take charge of the room. The Host should be outgoing and comfortable talking to all customers and have a good understanding of who to ask or where to find answers to questions they don’t know immediately. The host needs to have good time management skills that will allow them to learn our workflow and assist with customer expectations of timelines and rental reservations. While customer service is paramount, the host will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Phone – Answer the phone, answer basic questions and forward the customer to the right department
  • Register Activities – Learn the point of sale and operate all register functions including ringing up sales, making appointments and reservations, filling out and storing rental wavers, running credit card sales, and opening and closing the register.
  • Barista - Make coffees and engage customers. Maintain a clean and orderly coffee bar and notify the manager when supplies are low. No barista experience is needed.
  • Sales Floor Appearance – Keep the sales floor clean and organized and do what is necessary to be proud of the overall appearance and impression of shop.
  • Sales – Occasionally help the sales associate or sales manager with sales of product. Develop an understanding of what the shop carries and why we choose our product mix and be able to help a customer until another staff member is available to provide more information.
